When Is Strawberry Picking In New Jersey?

Strawberry picking in New Jersey starts in late May, with the prime season starting in June. The full strawberry picking season starts in May and goes through to late June. The season can start earlier or later, depending on weather and when the fruit starts to ripen.

Strawberry picking season in New Jersey lasts from 3 – 4 weeks on average and can go up to 6 weeks, based on the weather conditions as well as the geographical location of the farm.

Always call ahead to avoid disappointment. We recommend visiting these farms in the morning just before the sun gets too hot.

Bonacorsi Family Farm

The Bonarcosi Family Farm opens for strawberry picking season in June. There are plenty of strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries, and if you are lucky, they might have tart cherries too. Check their Facebook page for seasonal availability.

This farm also offers apple and grape picking in the Fall.

Sussex County Strawberry Farm

The Sussex County Strawberry Farm opens in early June and promises plenty of family fun. Pick your own strawberries and get a recipe to use at home for refreshing kid-friendly daiquiris, strawberry pies, and more.

You may also enjoy the colorful hangers available at the greenhouse that are perfect for your home decor.

Farms View Roadstand

At Farms View Roadstand, you and your family can pet miniature donkeys, chickens, and goats. Be sure to carry your camera and catch a glorious picture of the peacocks. The farm opens in late May to Mid-June, but we recommend calling or getting in touch through Facebook for exact dates.

Specca Farms

This farm offers a wide variety of fresh produce at competitive prices. You can also choose to buy from their market or pick your own from the farm. Spring season features strawberries, beets, lettuce, kale, collards, Fava beans, herbs, parsnips, and a variety of other vegetables.

You can also visit Specca Farms in the Fall for a variety of specialty tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, pumpkins, apples, and more. The farm also has plenty of activities for the whole family, especially in the Fall.

Strawberry Hill Farm

This farm in Chesterfield is famous for its strawberries in Spring. Strawberry Hill Farm also offers plenty of u-pick activities throughout the year, including u-pick pumpkins and apple picking in the Fall depending on availability and weather conditions.

Tindall Farms

Enjoy plenty of ripe strawberries at Tindall Farms. Each year, the farm welcomes back new and old guests with plenty of berries for you and your family to pick. Alstede Farms

Alstede Farms is a family favorite in North New Jersey for strawberry picking. The farm brings a fresh new face to spring and summer by offering u-pick activities, hayrides, and plenty of fun activities for kids of all ages.

In addition to picking your own strawberries, you can also buy home goods, desserts, and fresh produce from the farm such as green leafy vegetables, fresh apples, tomatoes, and asparagus among others.

Phillips Farms

This family-owned farm is dedicated to producing the freshest produce. Phillips Farms offers pick-your-own fruit when they are in season and plenty of family activities.

Starting in late May, Phillips Farms will have plenty of strawberries, blueberries, peaches, apples, black raspberries, red raspberries, and blackberries for you to pick. This farm almost has anything you would be looking for and is a great place to go visit! Give the farm a call to plan your visit.

Terhune Orchards

Terhune Orchards is open all year offering plenty of farm fresh produce, fruits, and berries. From May to June the farm offers u-pick strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, and cherries.

Depending on the season, Terhune offers over 250 crops including over 38 types of apples, 28 variants of peaches, and several varieties of pears.

There are also plenty of farm festivals including blueberry bash, Just Peachy Festival, Firefly Festival, and more. You can also visit their winery over the weekends.

Battleview Orchards is one of the oldest u-pick farms in New Jersey. The family-owned farm invited the public to the pick-your-own seasonal harvests, where there are plenty of strawberries, sour cherries, New Jersey strawberries, nectarines, New Jersey peaches, and apples.

Wemrock Orchards

The strawberry patch at Wemrock Orchards is nestled away in a secluded area to guarantee their freshness. You can enjoy fresh, juicy strawberries that have been well-tended and kept free from contamination.

The farm also features a cafe, bakery, and ice cream shop where you can treat yourself to a delicious treat after a long day of picking strawberries. In fall, the pumpkin patch is open, where you can find gourds of all shapes and sizes in preparation for Halloween.

Chesterfield Orchards

Hallock’s U-Pick Farm

Strawberry picking is one of Hallock’s Farm’s most popular seasons. Strawberry picking is expected to start in mid-May. However, the farm also offers fruits and vegetables throughout the year. Check their u-pick season page to see which produce is available.

You can also visit Hallock’s greenhouses, where there is a large assortment of flowers, perennials, and more.

Lee Turkey Farm

There is nothing like spending the day picking fresh juicy strawberries at Lee Turkey Farm. The farm also offers a variety of vegetables, including broccoli and sweet corn.

As summer starts towards the end of June, the farm offers u-pick sunflowers, peaches, blackberries, and field flowers. You can also visit in the fall to enjoy the fall festival featuring park n’ pick pumpkins, apples, and sunflowers.

We love picking strawberries and love watching our kids pick and eat these farm fresh goodies. Even though we go strawberry picking in North Carolina, we try to visit as many different farms as we can. As we travel to other states, we specifically look for farms that offer u-pick produce, fresh fruits and vegetables.

We love Terhune Orchards as it offers plenty of strawberry-themed activities for the whole family, including a fun but educational reading activity for kids. Growing up our family would grow our own fruits and vegetables. I loved planting seeds and watching them grow into something we could actually eat. We lived in Washington State and had a large apple tree. If you know of Washington apple trees, you know how many apples those trees can produce. Every year we had tons of apples.
